“Sod the wine, I want to suck on the writing. This man White is an instinctive writer, bloody rare to find one who actually pulls it off, as in still gets a meaning across with concision. Sharp arbitrage of speed and risk, closest thing I can think of to Cicero’s ‘motus continuum animi.’

Probably takes a drink or two to connect like that: he literally paints his senses on the page.”

A TWILIGHT REPAST AT PARRI

The Phillips family had a twilight show at Parri Estate this evening. I cannot recall viewing cricket and Aussie Rules footy being played simultaeneously with Santa delivering gentle drop punts at leg slip but there it was. Below is Pomodoro wood oven king hell maven Annika Berlingieri with her Mum Pat Sprague on Santa's knees ... all photos Philip White

That's the Phillips mob: John, Darls and Kimmie obscured, Chase on Santa's knee, Deb and Brad. Sorry about the composition but the Phillipses don't sit still long. Below is a bloke I'm trying to find the name of with Joe Petrucci, trying to avoid breaking Santa's femurs ... bottom there's wheels I hoped were Chook's new Poultry in Motion omnibus, but  it wasn't.

ps: after some years of management, the Phillips family has recently taken the lease of Parri ... this includes some of Jim Ingoldby's priceless old McLaren Flat vineyard ... it'd be grand to see them keep some of that fruit to themselves now and make beautiful wine from it
