MARG AND THE BOYS SELL PL's CELLAR

SALE: Margaret Lehmann, and her winemaking sons, David and Philip, have decided to begin selling parts of the vast cellar Peter had assembled in the vault below their large house. 

Peter and Margaret engaged Jeremy Holmes to catalogue the cellar. He was part way into the vast task when Peter died.

Of the initial parcel to hit the market, Jeremy says: "The first release includes vintage ports from as far back as 1945 as well as Saltram clarets from 1948-1953 and Saltram shiraz from most years between 1954-1976. Prices range from $120 to $999 per bottle and each wine will be checked, re-corked and sealed by Margaret Lehmann’s winemaker sons David and Phil."

Margaret (centre right), David and Philip opened many glories from that mighty cellar, including generous lashings of the spellbinding 1970 Saltram red Peter had made for his wedding to Margaret.
